Mr. Valvano, my son Josh and I lived across the street from you on Chapel years ago. I remember Josh picking flowers and bringing them over to Mrs. V. She was so sweet to make such a fuss over his offerings! Bless you both. Wendy Wheeler

Mrs. Valvano was a warm and gracious person, who always made everyone who visited Chapel Street comfortable. Joey and I were close friends for many years, through a variety of ages, in part, I suspect, because I, too had three sisters.
I never remember seeing Mrs. Valvano cross or frustrated, even when we went tearing in and out of the house. She was always pleasant and loving, a good schoolteacher to the core, but more importantly a loving mom and wife.
And the food was great, too!
There aren't enough people like Viola Valvano any more, and my thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Valvano, his daughters and their families, and one of my great lifetime friends, Joey, who I hope is doing OK in this time of sorrow. Pep, I hope we can connect soon.
Love and prayers to all.
