Obituary of Debra Ann Sykes Picarella

Passed peacefully from earth into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 7th, 2024, surrounded by family. There will be a Memorial service for family and friends at Bristol Springs Free Church, 6481 Co Rd 12, Naples, NY on Saturday, April 13th at 11AM. Debra was predeceased by her parents, Russell and Velma (Tracy) Sykes and brother, Ronald Sykes. She was also predeceased by her sons, Zachary and Jared Picarella. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, John, their daughter, Jessica, with her husband, Daniel Donnelly, and her grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua, Breann, and John Patrick. Debra enjoyed working as a Registered Nurse at Strong Memorial Hospital, Highland Hospital and Thompson Hospital for a number of years in different capacities, but changed careers as the family grew. She worked for a number of years as a Realtor, and she also bought and sold antiques and collectibles. Some of the many things she enjoyed were quilting, painting, and gardening, along with mowing the lawn. She loved to swim, and in the summer, picking berries was a highlight. Her highest priorities were her family and being a follower of Jesus Christ. She shared the Good News of Salvation and God's faithfulness throughout her life, through all her trials and in all her ups and downs. To God be the glory in ALL things. Her life was a testimony to the Lord's grace and mercy even in the hard times. Although she will be dearly missed, we are confident of her being at peace with our Lord in heaven, and look forward to the day we see her in glory.
